Nucleoprotein-latex agglutination test in connective tissue diseases.

چکیده
Research into the aetiology of the collagen diseases has been guided recently by the speculation that they may be manifestations of hypersensitivity. Rheumatoid arthritis and disseminated lupus erythamatosus especially, it has been suggested, could be the results of "auto-immune" processes. The work of Klemperer, Gueft, Lee, Leuchtenberger, and Pollister (1950) focused attention on the role of deoxyribosenucleic acid in disseminated lupus erythematosus. Subsequently, Miescher and Strassle (1957) described deoxyribosenucleic acid antibodies in the disease. These investigators used haemagglutination of sensitized sheep red cells to estimate antibody titres, but suggested that latex particles might also be used. Christian, Mendez-Bryan, and Larson (1958) recently described the use of latex particles sensitized with nucleoprotein as a test for disseminated lupus erythematosus. This report describes our results with a nucleoprotein-latex agglutination test on the sera of patients with lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and certain other diseases. We also performed F II haemagglutination tests (method of Jacobson, Kammerer, Wolf, Epstein, and Heller, 1956) on most of these sera.

Development of a Latex Agglutination Method for Diagnosis of Rotavirus Infections
Background: Rotavirus is a major cause of morbidity and mortality among children with gastroenteritis. Since the discovery of rotaviruses, several techniques have been used for their laboratory diagnosis; those included Electron Microscopy (EM) and enzyme immunoassay. These methods, however, are expensive and not readily available everywhere. We have developed a technique which can be used for ...

in this study which has been carried out from 1996 until 1997 soluble latex agglutination antigen was prepared from L, donovani,sudan(s-1) by culturing in special media, harvesting, and later solubilizing by freezing and thawing.the antigen were futher prepared by high speed centrifugation.after measurement of the protein (lowry method) concentration of the antigen was set at 2.2 mg/ml,the antige...
متن کاملLatex agglutination test for detection of Clostridium difficile toxin in stool samples.
A total of 163 stool specimens were tested for detection of Clostridium difficile and its toxin by cytotoxicity assay with tissue culture, latex agglutination test, and isolation of the organism. From 33 specimens which were positive for toxin by cytotoxicity, 30 were positive by the latex agglutination test; the organism was isolated from 21. The total number of samples which were positive wit...
متن کاملDevelopment of latex agglutination test with nucleoprotein as antigen for detection of antibodies to swine influenza virus.
As pigs are susceptible to infection with both avian and human influenza A viruses, they have been proposed to be an intermediate host for the generation of pandemic virus through reassortment. The broad susceptibility of pigs to influenza viruses emphasizes the importance of surveillance of swine influenza virus. Thus, A latex agglutination test (LAT) was developed for rapid detection of antib...
متن کاملPerformance of Latex Agglutination Test (KAtex) In Diagnosis of Visceral Leishmaniasis in Iran
Background: Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is an endemic disease in some parts of Iran. Many techniques have been used for diagnosis of VL, among which the urine based la-tex agglutination test (KAtex) is a promising one. Objective: To compare three diag-nostic tests of VL including KAtex, ELISA and Direct Agglutination Test (DAT) in VL patients and healthy controls in the south west of Iran. Meth...
